Roland Paul Gacayan Sr., 67, of Pahala died Jan. 13, 2013 in Hawaii. Born Nov. 4, 1945, in Pahala, he was a retired disel mechanic for the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Orchards and a Vietnam Army veteran who was awarded the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 2 at the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Pahala for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sons, Roland (Lorna Mihara) Gacayan Jr. of Hilo, Randall (Pamela) Gacayan of Lajes Field, Portugal; daughters, Rochele Gacayan of Pahala and Megan Gacayan, both of Pahala, Renee (Ramil) Saribay of Kahului, Maui; brothers, Gerald (Roxanne) Gacayan of San Diego, Randy Ancheta of Lancaster, Calif., Leopoldo (Janet) Ancheta of Mililani, Oahu; sister, Elena (Herman) Polinar of Torrance, Calif.; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
