James “Longie” K. Kupahu Sr., 73, of Nanawale Estates died March 9, 2013, at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the City and County of Honolulu.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. April 6 at Makuu Farmers Market on Highway 130, Pahoa, for an 11 a.m. celebration of his life. Lunch follows. Additional services will be held at 11:30 a.m. June 8 at Waimanalo Beach Park, Oahu, with scattering of his ashes to follow. Lunch follows the scattering. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Gwendolyn (Makaila) Kupahu; daughters, Jaime (Gary) Kahalepo, Darrlyn (Richard) Kupahu-Canon, Lloydette Teanio, Malie Kupahu; sons, James Kupahu Jr., Michael (Hanalei) Kupahu, Nakuluai Maave-Kupahu, Lloyd Teanio; sisters, Jacqueline Kalima, Leihalaopuna (Jerry) Vigneaux, Lana (Danny) Johnson; brother, Manuel Kupahu Jr.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
