Eugene “Bradda Gene” Pitas Sumera, 56, of Hilo died June 4, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 2, 1957, in Honolulu, he was a drywall installer for Hawaii Interiors, a fish cutter at Suisan, member of the Under His Wings Ministry and an Army veteran.

He is survived by sons, Eugene Sumera Jr. of Honolulu, Josey Smith and Kamuela Sumera, both of Oregon, Kekoa Sumera-Lee and Keola Sumera-Lee, both of Hilo; daughters, Kanoe Lee and Kealakai Sumera-Lee, both of Hilo; sisters, Klarika (Richard) Hee and Jolita Turner, both of Alta Loma, Calif., Loretta Wong of Waimanalo, Oahu; brothers, Glen (Debbie) Turner of Mountain View, Cornelio (Sharon) Sumera Jr. of Seattle; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
