The Coordinated Services for the Elderly Program of the Elderly Activities Division will issue senior ID cards for those 60 and older from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Kohala CSE; 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Pahala Hawaii Housing Center; 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the Naalehu Community Center; 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kmart in Kailua-Kona; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building B; and 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Hale Hauoli Senior Center in Honokaa.

Saturday fundraiser
The Christopher Camero Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12122 is holding a fundraising spaghetti dinner and open mic event from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at its post headquarters at the former Swing Zone. Suggested donation is $7.
The post also plans an Octoberfest from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 28. The cost is $15.

Jewelry class slated at North Kohala library
Jewelry artist Sid Nakamoto demonstrates a simple jewelry design for the next North Kohala Public Library adult and teen craft program on Monday. He will offer two sessions of the same program — at 2 and at 6 p.m. Materials will be provided for participants to create their own jewelry piece.
A limit has been placed on the number of participants. Call the library at 889-6655 to register for the program.
North Kohala Public Library’s adult and teen craft programs are free and materials are donated by the artist or the Friends of the Library. The library is located adjacent to Takata Grocery Store in Kapaau.
Kawaihae Harbor project meeting set
The South Kohala Community Development Plan subcommittee will hold a community meeting at the Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday to discuss the upcoming construction of the Kawaihae Harbor south project. A speaker from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation will be on hand. A representative from the Army Corps of Engineers will speak about the unexploded ordnance program set to begin at various sites in South Kohala.

The Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary’s board meets at 1 p.m. Monday in the hospital conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

Cha-cha lessons begin Monday in Waimea
Lance Oliver will lead Waimea Ballroom Dance Club’s cha-cha lessons beginning Monday. Participants in the six-week series of intermediate-level classes will learn the basics and advance their skills. Lessons are slated from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays in the Waimea Elementary School cafeteria, and are followed by practice mixers. Register at 6:30 p.m. before either of the first two classes. The series costs $15.
