Large employers must comply with Affordable Care Act in 2015
An article about Hawaii’s health connector website had an incorrect date by which large employers, those with 50 to 100 employees, must comply with the Affordable Care Act. Panelist Peter Amelotte, with Aloha Insurance Services, said effective in 2015, companies that provide self-insured health coverage must file an annual return reporting certain information for each employee covered. The rule is optional for 2014.
Amelotte also noted that all groups that have insurance plan renewals on a calendar year, with the next plan effective Jan. 1, and individuals must make a plan selection in the next three months or face IRS penalties when they file their 2014 taxes.
