Alternating single lane closures will be in effect on Mamalahoa Highway, between Uluoa Street and Old Kona Village Road, in North Kona for sign installation, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Alternating single lane closures will also be in effect on Volcano Road, between mile markers 8.6 and 13.4, in the vicinity of Keaau to Mountain View for pavement reconstruction, according to the department.
Crews will be working from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, according to the department.
Alternating single lane closures remain in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the Umauma Stream Bridge on Hawaii Belt Road, near mile marker 16 in Hakalau, for bridge repairs, according to the department. Vehicle weight is limited to 25 mph and the speed limit over the bridge is 25 mph. Vehicles weighing 25 tons or greater must use Kuniho Road, Old Mamalahoa Highway and Leopolino Road as a detour route.
Coast Guard rescues diver off Kaena Point
A man was recovering Saturday after being rescued on Friday in waters approximately 2 miles off Kaena Point on Oahu, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center. The man, who had been diving, was reported missing after his friend did not see him surface.
The Coast Guard’s MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and crew stationed at Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point on Oahu launched a search for the man at 6:33 p.m., according to the Coast Guard. Using coordinates provided by the Honolulu Fire Department, which had spotted a green laser while conducting aerial observation, the Coast Guard located the man about 7:30 p.m. and a rescue swimmer subsequently plucked him from the ocean.
He was transported to Kuakini Health System in Honolulu for decompression chamber treatment, according to the Coast Guard.
The man spent about four hours in the water, according to the Coast Guard. He filled his drysuit with the remaining air in his dive tank to remain afloat.

HONOLULU — The medical examiner’s office has identified a woman found shot in the head this week in a Waikiki apartment.
Police are investigating the death of 33-year-old Tara Isnin as a murder-attempted suicide.
Paramedics responding to a report of a shooting found her and a man with gunshot wounds early Monday in an apartment. The 40-year-old man was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that, according to the military, the man is assigned to the Pacific Command’s Special Operations Command. A command spokesman said he enlisted in the Army in 1995 and is stationed at Camp Smith.
The man remains hospitalized and no arrests have been made.
The medical examiner’s office said Isnin died of injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.
