HONOLULU — The Honolulu medical examiner’s has identiied the two contractors killed when a 10,000-pound buoy fell from a crane in Pearl Harbor.
The medical examiner’s office on Thursday identified the men as 42-year-old Joefrey Andrada of Waipahu, Oahu, and 30-year-old Justin Saragosa of Kapolei, Oahu.
Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. David Jenkins says the men were on a barge that was servicing the Navy’s fleet of inactive ships at the time of Wednesday’s incident.
The medical examiner’s office says they died of blunt-force injuries to the head and torso.
Two others suffered minor injuries.
The buoy was 12-to-15-feet in diameter. It fell about 60 feet.
The Navy is investigating.
