Hawaii governor shouldn’t open door to refugees

Gov. David Ige would like to welcome the Syria refugees with aloha. He’s doing such a good job with the homeless problem and Mauna Kea protesters, I guess he needs a new challenge or the idea of getting all that federal money that he could siphon some off for his pet projects has fogged his thinking — or he just wants an invite to the White House.

When you see photos of the refugees, the closeups show families, but when you see group shots you will notice that they are mostly men in their 20s. Why are these young men not staying and fighting to get their country back? How many are Islamic terrorists? How can our government check them out when they can’t even keep their email secure?

Syria is in chaos so how could they help with the screening and security vetting? In Europe, they are having problems with the young refugees assaulting (and worse) young women because they are not dressed modestly. Can you imagine what will happen when they see how women are dressed on our beaches? With the employment problem in Hawaii and lack of housing, high cost of living, and language problems, what can go wrong? Maybe they could set up their own government like the Hawaiians and set up Sharia law. Can you imagine how this is going to affect tourism?

Let’s set up two safe zones in Syria where they can have their own language and culture — one for Muslim and one for Christians. It would be cheaper and better in the long run for all of us.
