When the story broke about Rachel Dolezal, a branch president of the NAACP, I saw her parents being interviewed. They said there was no person of color in either family tree.
The reporter later interviewed Ms. Dolezal, the two-degreed Ms. Dolezal, when asked the same question, went into slow motion and relied, “I don’t understand the question.” The interviewer put the question in more simpler terms and Ms. Dolezal still refused to answer.
I saw Ms. Dolezal today on MSN and she said she has made over 100 applications for work and has still not gotten a job. She said, “white people hate me because they think I am a traitor. Black people hate me because black people hate white people. There is no protected class for me. I will never apologize or grovel.”
No, Ms. Dolezal, black people don’t hate white people, they hate racist-stereotypers. White people, like black people, don’t like liars.

Would love to be wrong about Trump
Regarding Dave Chrisman’s opinion “Progressives terrified of Trump success,” as a progressive I hope I’m allowed to speak for myself and other progressives.
We would love to be wrong about Trump. Sadly, he has given us no reason to be optimistic.
His every appointment and executive order destroys something important to us, environment, diversity, honesty, tolerance, consumer protections, civil rights, human rights.
Anyone not seeing this is not paying close attention.
This is not a partisan fight.
It is a fight for a non-authoritarian, democratic, equal opportunity, equal education, transparent government. Progressives choose butter over guns.

Moving Kahaluu lifeguard
station a good idea
I’d like to add my support to Syd Kraul’s letter published March 5, recommending the lifeguard station at Kahaluu Beach Park be relocated off what little beach area currently exists. Surely, there’s a better location that would safely meet the needs of both beachgoers and lifeguards.
