Kudos to Hawaii GOP
Kudos to the Hawaii GOP for removing party Vice Chairperson Edwin Boyette who posted QAnon conspiracy ideas on GOP Twitter. Hawaii can lead the way in “cleaning house” of any politician who advocates conspiracy or militant thinking. They are wise to disassociate from members who would support plans to stage an attempted overthrow of the government at the Capitol.
GOP Chairperson Shirlene Ostrov has also stepped down during this time of controversy in the interest of the party reevaluating its goals. As state Rep. Val Okimoto said, “It is high time we become the party of Lincoln not a party on the fringe.” I think informed, conservative voters appreciate Hawaii GOP’s insight in distancing themselves from groups with seditious intent.
I hope the national GOP will also have the courage to “clean house” of 1) politicians who show disrespect for the rule of law by rejecting 83 judicial decisions that debunked voter fraud and 2) politicians who still persist with the QAnon conspiracy, especially now that the owner of the website has said, “It’s over.”
On Jan. 26, the Canadian Parliament put forth a motion to ban Proud Boys and 59 other groups as domestic terrorists. Every single liberal and conservative member voted unanimously in favor. To identify any U.S. Republican politician who continues to align with incendiary groups, our House and Senate should ask for a similar roll call vote (separating the men from the “boys,” pun intended).
The reputation of the Republican Party is at a pivotal point and I applaud Hawaii GOP for disavowing associations with organizations tied to violence at our Capitol and taking a step back to examine its focus.

Charitable diversion?
It seems like only yesterday when the County Council rammed through a resolution of tax the rich to give to the poor (modern day Robinhood).
Those of us who testified against this proposal were never heard as it was to easy a money grab for our short-sighted politicians. I would ask those who did this to step in the shoes of those they taxed but that will never happen because they will never understand an anyone who works seven days a week for years to build a business.
When you rob someone at gun point, you may get their wallet but I can guarantee that they will never forget and be much more vigilant in protecting themselves in the future. They may also decide to take a little indirect revenge against those that robbed them? Lack of charitable donations seems to be a shot across the bow?
The people who were robbed were and are good people and the county should roll back the tax increase and apologize with hat in hand. The county should then ask for some short-term help from these same aggrieved people the way they should have a year ago in the way of a limited tax increase for a couple of years? (Reasonable) We all need government but fair and balanced should be the preference as whenever it is out of balance we see the likes of former President Donald Trump.
We are a small community that does not have to follow the national trend of insanity so how about waking up and doing what’s right for a change? The private industry is in full freefall and our public sector has not contributed one dime in monetary help (thanks for the forced unemployment checks ). No one in the public sector has missed a paycheck as always, so save us from the righteous indignation of how important you are and get off the back of private business and on the street with us?

Council not honoring the people’s request
Our County Council is not honoring people’s request for a town hall meeting. They have informed us that the governor is in charge of COVID-19 mandates and we need to request a meeting with him.
When did the governor become king of the Hawaiian islands?
The governor’s first emergency proclamation, nearly a year ago, was in place to keep our hospitals from being overrun. That has never happened or been in danger of happening. In fact, the year before COVID0-19 there were nearly two times as many flu deaths and the year prior to that there were almost three times as many flu deaths.
The over 21,000 COVID-19 cases in 2020 has the most recoveries in any flu season and yet we are still being mandated to wear masks and social distance.
Also, why isn’t anyone discussing human biology and talking about how to boost the immune system instead of how to live in fear?
There have been numerous doctors around the country who have successfully treated covid patients. Most of them recommend parasite treatments like Ivermectin. They also recommend things that boost the immune system such as large doses of vitamin C, D3, Zinc and vitamin A. Why isn’t this in the news?
Every year, seniors are the most at risk of death from the regular flu. That is not unique to COVID-19, yet the media would have us believe that it is.
Now they are vaccinating people with a vaccine that has barely been tested and vaccine corporations have no liability if people are injured or die. We are being treated like human guinea pigs.
Lastly, at what point do we ask questions against mandates that take away freedoms that millions of Americans have fought and died for?
