Kona is lucky to have KCH
Having been a patient in the Kona Community Hospital Emergency Room twice, most recently a few weeks ago, I can report that both experiences were hugely successful, relieved that my injuries were attended to as expeditiously and professionally as, it appeared, humanly possible.
My recent visit occurred mid-day. When I left some two hours later, the ER was packed, standing room only, with patients suffering an unimaginable plethora of injuries and ailments. Not an easy challenge to accommodate all. And this, I can only surmise, occurs perhaps every day.
Kona is lucky to have KCH. The case has been made for a new, gleaming, modern, well-staffed, immaculate edifice, somewhere near Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole and Hawaii Community College at Palamanui’s campus. Perhaps that day will come.
As for me, I’m eternally grateful for the Kona Community Hospital and all those willing to work there and help people in need.
