A political decision
based on popularity
The job of the Supreme Court should be to enforce the laws, not make new law. Congress is delegated the duty of creating new laws. In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court made new law. As stated correctly by Human Life International: “The constitutional right to abortion is found not in the Constitution itself, but in a loose reading of it as a ‘living document,’ as ‘progressives’ like to call it.”
Roe v. Wade was clearly a political decision based on popularity and not based on the Constitution. This case created a conflict between laws convicting people of murder when they cause the death of a fetus and abortion. The new Supreme Court ruling does not abolish abortion but allows the states to pass laws on abortion.
If there is to be a federal law on abortion it should be passed by Congress. The Supreme Court should not rule based on politics or popularity. Supreme Court decisions should not be based on loose interpretations of the Constitution, but on what is written in the Constitution.
A way to address identity theft
or those who have had their identity stolen online and to those who haven’t yet had it stolen, welcome to the club. It’s high time something be done about this, as I’m told by a local Pahoa merchant that he’s hearing an awful lot about this phenomenon.
Now everybody has the ability to complain and everybody has an opinion. Opinions are like belly buttons. Everybody has one and they’re all full of lint. Ready or not, here’s my lint-filled belly button on how to at least slow down ATM/ credit card identity theft.
What I believe is we should have two cards instead of just one. The primary card would be strictly for local, in person purchases; whereas, the secondary card would be strictly for online purchases. A simple operation would be like: Insert primary card, select the option for adding money to online card. Once selected, the primary card ejects, add amount from account and if alright, select done. That card will eject, reinsert primary card to close out transaction or do something else. The online card has no electronic connection to your primary card except in the ATM, so if someone got your online card ID, they would have no access to your bank account and their only message they would receive would be access denied if they tried to take over the amount left in the card. When I was told what an ID thief had done to my bank account, I could have convened the firing squad right there.
