Words of love, warm embraces, fond memories of those who have died and much more will be shared at Hospice of Konas annual Circle of Remembrance on Jan. 29 at King Kamehamehas Kona Beach Hotel in Kailua-Kona.
Words of love, warm embraces, fond memories of those who have died and much more will be shared at Hospice of Kona’s annual Circle of Remembrance on Jan. 29 at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel in Kailua-Kona.
The 5-7 p.m. memorial will include inspirational readings, live music, complimentary heavy pupus and soft beverages.
The program is free and open to the community but space is limited. Attendees are asked to RSVP to Hospice of Kona at 324-7700. Guests are asked to provide their loved ones’ name in advance so it can be read at the ceremony. They should also bring a photo so they can share memories.
“Coming together to honor a loved one who has died is such an important bonding opportunity for the community,” said Laura Varney, Hospice of Kona’s CEO. “This is such a beautiful event that inspires support, laughter, some tears, and always heartfelt reflection.”
The Circle of Remembrance has provided encouragement and hope to hundreds of residents and visitors for more than 10 years. What was created as a way to meet a Medicare annual memorial requirement has grown to signify so much more. It has become an opportunity for friends and family to gather once more to pay respect to those who have passed on — whether recently or decades ago.
Hospice of Kona provides family centered support, education and care for those approaching the end of life. The organization is recognized as the best resource to support and advocate for the terminally ill and their caregivers and to educate professionals, volunteers and the general public about hospice care and palliative care.
