The Big Island reported no new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, leaving the total number of cases to 2,248.
Statewide, a total of 20 new cases were reported Wednesday by the Department of Health. Oahu reported eight of those cases, Maui County 11 and Kauai one. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,640 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Wednesday had a 0.4% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 32 cases or an average of 1.9 cases per day.
Statewide, 31 people were hospitalized Wednesday, one of whom was receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,226 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Wednesday by the state. Both were on Oahu. Of the 441 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 351 were on Oahu, 33 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
