State health officials on Monday reported one new coronavirus-related death and 18 additional cases of COVID-19 on the Big Island.
With the new fatality and cases, the island’s death toll reached 105 and case count 10,492.
Across the Aloha State, 113 new cases were reported by health officials on Monday, bringing the statewide case count since late February 2020 to 81,614.
According to the DOH, 3,012 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 588 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 167.1 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 33 cases per day.
Hawaii County’s seven-day test positivity rate rose to 4.7% Monday, well above the state’s 2.8% positivity rate.
On Monday, 12 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized on the Big Island. Five of the island’s 24 ICU beds were available with six of the beds occupied by COVID-positive patients. Three of the COVID-positive patients were on a ventilator.
Four new coronavirus-related deaths were reported by the state on Monday; three were on Oahu and one was on the Big Island. No additional information was provided.
Of the 845 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 635 were on Oahu, 92 were on Maui, 105 were on the Big Island and eight on Kauai. Five deaths were among residents outside the state.
Meanwhile Monday, the state reported 65% of Big Island residents — or more than 130,00 people — were fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Some 77% has received at least one dose.
Statewide, 69.6% of the population was fully vaccinated.
