KEALAKEKUA – The Wildcats knew it wasn’t going to be pretty.
On a rainy night, Konawaena was able to outlast the visiting Vikings of Hilo by a score of 13-12 to claim the BIIF Division 1 Football Championship. Wildcat quarterback Keoki Alani accounted for both scores – a rushing touchdown in the second quarter and a passing touchdown to wideout Kamaehu Makanui in the fourth – to lift his team to the title.
A stout defense led by senior defensive lineman Maui Ellis-Noa stood firm for much of the game, only allowing the Viking offense to find the end zone once on the night.
