Why is Hawaii always so behind the times?
My husband and I absolutely oppose House Bill 1571 (Vaccination Status Violation Bill) and any other bills on the agenda that violate our constitutional rights and our privacy. The world is waking up to the false COVID narrative. Many countries are dropping mask mandates, booster shots, vaccination passports, etc.
Why is Hawaii always so behind the times? You should know what is going on in the rest of the world. Or do you have some secret agenda that the public is not aware of? It is high time you realized, like many other parts of the world, that we will have to learn to live with COVID-19. Drop all the restrictions. Let the people get on with their lives. Earn our respect, not our resentment and distrust.
We are humbly asking you to please do what is right and lawful.

America’s gun violence
To respond to Dave Chrisman’s slightly confused comments Tuesday about Ken Obenski’s Sunday column: It is true that laws will never stop crime, only help to diminish it somewhat. Other industrial nations have gun laws, which means purchases are registered to licensed buyers that have gone through training on shooting and handling guns. Yes, those countries have crimes as well, but nothing compared to the gun violence in the U.S.
If gun shows were more controlled so that not every macho Tom, Dick and Harry can buy a gun and huge amounts of ammunition there would be less of a problem. There is also no reason for anyone to need a rifle that can act like a machine gun.
Yes there needs to be more enforcement of gun laws and more training for police officers.
The comparison of nuts driving into crowds or abortion issues are a whole different subject for discussion, not relevant to gun laws.
One more comment about that idiotic slogan going around: “People don’t kill people” — but hey, people pull the trigger.
