Police seek leads in Kawaihae weapon incident

Hawaii Island police are searching for the identity of whomever was responsible for shooting approximately 17 shots from a 9mm pistol at the Kawaihae LST Landing (aka LSD) beach area.

An Allied Security officer reported that around 7:48 p.m. on Sunday an unknown person told security personnel that a group of several people were firing a pistol while at LST beach. Security staff told everyone to leave the area and once the area was clear, 9mm casings were located at the far end of the beach.
