Bone dry in E. Hawaii

Anoi Kekipi-Aurio fills containers of drinking water to bring back to his family at the spigots in Keaau on Friday. Kekipi-Aurio is conserving water from the catchment and is hoping it rains soon, but the drinking water should last his family a week.

The prolonged dry spell that’s thus far been the story of the wet season on the Big Island’s windward side has caused long lines at the county’s public water spigots for residents who rely on water catchment.
