Tropical Storm Adrian, the first named storm in the Eastern Pacific in 2017, remains poorly organized, forecasters said Wednesday.
Adrian was located about 430 miles south-southeast of Salina Cruz, Mexico, packing 40 mph winds as it traveled northwest at 5 mph as of 11 a.m. Hawaii time on Wednesday. The storm’s expected to make a gradual turn to the west-northwest on Thursday.
Little change in strength is forecast for the storm during the next 48 hours as it encounters southeasterly wind shear. As of Wednesay morning, tropical storm-force winds extended outward from Adrian’s center up to 70 miles.
One forecast model still has Adrian reaching hurricane strength, however, other models indicate that its intensity is less aggressive. By Monday, the Adrian is expected to remain a tropical storm packing 65 mph winds
