As Tropical Storm Flossie continues to move through the state, the Department of Land and Natural Resources has closed several parks, trails and beaches on Hawaii Island, officials said this morning.
The following DLNR parks and trails are closed effective immediately: Ainapo trail and cabin, Pololu trail, Waimanu trail and campground, Hapuna Beach State Recreational Area, including the Hapuna and Waialea sections, Kiholo State Park Reserve, Kekaha Kai State Park, including the Manini owali (Kua Bay) and Mahaiula sections, Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park and Lapakahi State Historical Park.
The National Park Service also closed Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park. Those parks will reopen when the storm has passed, officials said.
The U.S. Coast Guard also closed Kawaihae and Hilo harbors, officials said.
