On the second day of the Mauna Lani Resort Hawaii State Open, professional Jake Grodzinsky fired a 6-under 66 for the low round and a one-shot lead.
First-round leader and Oregon State alum David Fink posted a 2-under 70 on Saturday to move to 6-under on the weekend, just a stroke behind. Former University of Hawaii at Hilo golfer Nick Mason was tied with Fink for second, while defending champion Dean Wilson was just two strokes back with a 69. Tadd Fujikawa moved back into contention with a second round 67, after shooting a first round 80. Hawaii Prepatory graduate Max Bonk (3-over) fell behind after a 5-over 77.
In the senior division, Jeff Coston posted a 3-under 69 for a two-day total of 136.
On the South Course, professional Mari Chun continued her steady play with a 1-under 71 for a two-day total of 145, five shots ahead of amateur Brittany Fan to top women’s play.
Final-round play starts at 7 a.m. today on the North Course with the senior and men’s open to follow. Both the Women’s Division and A-Flight tee off at 7:30 a.m. on the South Course.
