Pahoa structure fire under investigation

The Hawaii Fire Department is investigating the cause of a Saturday morning structure fire in Pahoa.

Responding to a 3:14 a.m. alarm, firefighters found an unoccupied one-story structure on Tradewind Drive, with a garage engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished at 3:40 a.m. and an overhaul completed. Besides fire personnel, Hawaii Police Department was also on the scene.

The department estimated the loss at $100,000.
