Tropical storm forms in Eastern Pacific

Tropical Storm Norbert has formed in the Eastern Pacific about 375 miles southeast of the southern tip of Baja California. The system is tracking to the north at 9 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, prompting a tropical storm watch for the southern end of the Baja California peninsula. The storm is expected to strengthen and turn more northwesterly over the next few days, with winds strengthening to 65 mph on Thursday before gradually weakening. Tropical storm force winds extend 60 miles from the center.
