Tropical Storm Ana continued to weaken as it moved farther away from the main Hawaiian Islands Tuesday morning, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports.
Ana is currently located about 425 miles west of Lihue, Kauai, according to the center. The storm is circulating 50 mph winds as it moves toward the west at 9 mph. Tropical storm-force winds currently extend outward up to 90 miles from the center of Ana.
A tropical storm warning remains in effect for the Papahanaumokukea Marine National Monument, between Nihoa and French Frigate Shoals, according to the center. A hurricane watch is in effect for portions of the national monument, from Nihoa to Maro Reef.
The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port reopened Port Allen in Kauai Monday morning after surveying crews deemed it safe for transit. The maritime public is advised to be vigilant when entering ports and harbors and to cooperate with the direction of the Coast Guard and local harbor masters.
