Car fire closes Highway 11

A blazing car along the shoulder of Highway 11 just south of Kamehameha III Road prompted a highway closure around 11 p.m. Thursday night while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The occupants of the vehicle exited safely, and the caused of the blaze is believed to be mechanical, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
