HONOLULU — A state employee faces a January trial on charges of stealing state money while working for Gov. Neil Abercrombie.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports a grand jury Nov. 13 indicted Roxanne Kamalu on counts of theft and use of a computer in the commission of crime.
She pleaded not guilty Nov. 20 and is free on $7,000 bond.
Kamalu is the office manager for state Rep. Ken Ito.
A spokeswoman for the governor says Kamalu worked as the governor’s office administrative services officer from March 2011 through October 2013 and handled the budget and office supplies.
Deputy Attorney General Michael Kagami says Kamalu used a computer to take between $300 and $1,000.
Kamalu’s attorney tells Hawaii News Now he had no comment on the case other than Kamalu’s not guilty plea.
