Hawaii Electric Light Co. will close its Waimea bill payment office at the Hawaii Electric Light Waimea base yard on May 2. The office is closing because of decreased use by customers.
To provide improved bill payment options, Hawaii Electric Light has partnered with Western Union to accept electric bill payments at Western Union payment agents and to waive payment agent service fees when accepting electric bill payments. Customers should present their electric bill stubs when making payments at Western Union.
Customers may also pay their electric bills at any First Hawaiian Bank on Hawaii Island. A service fee will be charged by the bank.
If customers prefer to pay their bills by phone, they can call Western Union Speedpay at (888) 813-2207. Customers can also access Western Union Speedpay online at hawaiielectriclight.com/paynow. A $1.99 fee will be charged.
The Hawaii Electric Light Waimea engineering office at Waimea base yard will remain open by appointment only. Customers needing engineering services can call 327-0611 to schedule an appointment.
