Nene Readers voting party coming up
Fourth through sixth graders who have read and reviewed five Nene Award-nominated books are invited to attend a voting party at 3 p.m. on March 11 at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.
Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona, Nene Readers is a reading club at the Kailua-Kona Public Library for fourth through sixth graders that focuses on reading, enjoying, analyzing, and discussing Nene Award-nominated books.
The deadline for submitting review cards to Ms. Jen is March 10. A parent or adult caregiver must accompany children. Ballots will be in the Children’s Section.

Words and Wine Tuesday in Keauhou
Leslie Karst, Carol Thorsness and George John Douvris will be featured during Kona Stories Book Shop’s Words and Wine event at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Keauhou Shopping Center.
Karst, who splits her time between California and Hawaii, is the author of the Sally Solari Mysteries, a culinary series set in Santa Cruz. She will discuss “A Measure of Murder.”
Thorsness is a retired middle school teacher who lives in Northern California and Kailua-Kona. “Big Island ‘Ohana, An Unintended Romance” is her second novel.
In “Crossing More Karma Zones: The Family Odyssey,” Douvris shares how his personal quest expands to include his wife and children, becoming a family odyssey to find a new homeland.
Following a more formal book presentation from each author there will be a Q&A session. The event concludes at 8 p.m.
