KAILUA-KONA — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire Saturday evening that destroyed a structure in Puna.
Responding to the 7:48 p.m. alarm, firefighters arrived at a Fern Acres property to find a 400-square-foot “shed-type cabin” burned nearly to the ground. The fire was extinguished in about 45 minutes.
Fire officials said no occupants were home at the time.
A house on the same property was not involved in the fire, according to fire officials.
