Holualoa artist unveils ‘Horse of a Different Color’

Longtime Holualoa artist Shelly Maudsley White presents her new body of work, “Horse of a Different Color” at her new Holualoa gallery opening with a sneak-peak reception Friday during Holualoa Village's Art After Dark event. (Courtesy photo/Special to West Hawaii Today)
“Horse of a Different Color” featuers 17 new, original pieces in a range of styles that represent a new direction for the artist, although they still maintain a certain recognizable “Shelly” feel. Her subjects feature familiar subjects in horses, flowers, bamboo, animals and abstracts, but painted in a looser and more expressive style than her previous work.
