The west side of the island will get a rare visit from the Vulcans today.
UH-Hilo will take on Biola at Kealakehe High School at 1 p.m. in a softball doubleheader. There is no fee to come check out the games.
Wet field conditions on the UH-Hilo campus field — along with the forecast for continued rain — forced the move.
The Vulcans (9-4) will be playing their first Pacific West Conference contests of the season, while Biola (17-3) is already off to a 6-0 start.
It has been nearly two weeks since the Vulcans have seen action — in large part due to bad weather — but they will jump right into actions against Biola. UHH had games scrubbed because of weather against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific in the last two weeks. Their last action was a doubleheader split with Central Washington on Feb. 16.
Fans that come out should expect plenty of action. The Vulcans are hitting .330 as a team with 18 home runs in 13 games. They are averaging 7.5 runs a game, and have scored in double figures in five games. UHH has a team ERA of 3.66.
