Hokule‘a, crew welcomed in Hilo

The Hokule‘a sailed out of Hilo Bay on May 30, 2014, for Tahiti, the first leg of her 36-month world tour. The voyaging canoe came full circle, as she docked in Hilo on Sunday.

HILO — A beloved symbol of Hawaii returned to Hilo Monday when the voyaging canoe Hokule‘a arrived at Kahele Point at the Grand Naniloa Hotel for the first time since 2014.
