Roadwork planned islandwide

KAILUA-KONA — Motorists should plan for delays this week as road projects continue islandwide.

The state Department of Transportation reports an alternating lane-closure will be in effect on Kuakini Highway, near mile markers 116 and 117 in the vicinity of Keauhou for landscaping and shoulder work. The lane closure runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In Ka‘u, an alternating lane closure is in effect on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Highway 11, in the vicinity of mile markers 68 and 69, north of Waiohinu, for landscaping and shoulder work. The lane closure runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

An additional lane closure is also in effect on the highway near mile markers 56 and 57, in the vicinity of Punaluu Black Sand Beach for road repairs. The lane closure runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On Kohala Mountain Road, also known as Highway 250, alternating single-lane closures are planned in both directions from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in the vicinity of Kapaau, near mile markers 5.5 and 6, for landscaping and shoulder work.

Landscaping and shoulder work on Akoni Pule Highway, between mile markers 21 and 25 in Kapaau, will also require single-lane closures from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In addition, a 24/7 alternating single-lane closure remains in effect in both directions in the vicinity of mile marker 29.3, near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, for road repairs.

An alternating lane closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Highway 11, in both directions between mile markers 5 and 7 in the vicinity of Hilo, for landscaping and shoulder work.

On Hawaii Belt Road, also known as Highway 19, alternating lane closures will be in effect in the vicinity of mile marker 28.6 near Kaawailii Gulch from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for road repairs.

On Hawaii Belt Road, also known as Highway 19, alternating lane closures will be in effect in the vicinity of mile markers 13 and 14 near Hakalau Gulch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday for landscaping and shoulder work.

Another lane closure on the highway is planned near mile markers 8 and 9, in the vicinity of Papaikou, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday for landscaping and shoulder work.

Highway 19 will also see alternating lane closures near mile marker 11.1 at Pepeekeo from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 pm. Tuesday through Friday for road repairs.

Lastly, an alternating lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue/Volcano Road (Highway 11) in both directions between Kuawa Street and Makalika Street remains in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday for striping work.

The DOT said that lane closure schedules may change at any time without notice. Work is weather permitting.
