Louise “Sweetie” Leialoha Maikui, 75, of Hilo, died April 10, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 29, 1943, in Hilo. She was a retired site manager for the Hawaii County Nutrition Center. She was also a member of The Way The Truth The Life Fellowship; the Hawaiian Civic Club in Laupahoehoe; the Hawaiian Bowling Club; and the U.E. Club.

Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m. May 10 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. Funeral service begins at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Alae Cemetery, Section L. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Albert “Al” Maikui of Hilo; daughter, Laurie Ann Pelekane of Hilo; sons, Albert “Naka” (Cheryl) Maikui of Honolulu, Oahu, Rudy (Debbie) Maikui of Hilo and Damien (Sui-Lin) Maikui of Kamuela; brothers, John Chesbro, Jr. of Hilo and Leonard “Milimili” (Juanita) of Kona; sister, Georgiana (Revelation) Kalauli of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cheyenne Gaspar

Cheyenne James Pila Gaspar, 44, of Kailua-Kona died April 9, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born on Oahu, he was a commercial painter, an avid free diver, member of A Church on a Sure Foundation in Puna and a former member of Solid Rock Ministries.

A celebration of his life will take place from noon to 4 p.m. May 18 at the West Hawaii Community Health Center Pavilion in Kealakehe; another celebration of his life will take place at noon May 11 at Ewa Beach Park on Oahu. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Kelly Gaspar of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Ashley (Sipou) Mareko of Las Vegas, Bridget Roberts of California; sons, Kaniela (Chassidy) Hauanio of Kailua-Kona, Isaiah (Reichel) Hauanio of Kailua-Kona; mother, Janice Gaspar of Portland, Ore.; brothers, Moses (Susan) Galeon of Kailua-Kona, Lowen Galeon of Portland, Ore.; sister, Kristin Galeon of Portland, Ore.; godparents; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Solomon Kapeliela Jr.

Solomon “Uncle Junior” Kaanaana Kapeliela Jr. of Kaneohe, died April 21, 2019, in Hilo. Born on Oahu in 1940, he was a retired heavy equipment truck driver for the City and County of Honolulu.

He is survived by his daughter, Stormy Kapeliela of Hilo; sons, Braze Kapeliela of Honolulu and Mark Kapeliela of Kihei; a sister, Emily McRae Kapeliela of Oregon; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
