West Hawaii has a new captain overseeing the Hawaii Police Department’s Area II Criminal Investigation Division.
Thomas Shopay, a 20-year veteran, was promoted to captain and assigned to the Area II Criminal Investigation Division in Kona. Shopay formerly commanded the Area II Criminal Investigation Section and has previously worked on the Special Response Team, Area II Vice Section (Kona), and Kona Patrol.
Regino Saludares, a 22-year veteran, has been promoted to captain assigned to the Hamakua Patrol. He formerly commanded the CALEA (accreditation) section and he has previously worked in the Area I Criminal Investigation Division (Hilo) and South Hilo Patrol.
Kenneth Quiocho, a 27-year veteran, has been promoted to major of Area I Field Operations (Hilo). He formerly commanded South Hilo Patrol, and previously worked in Puna Patrol and Kaʻu, CALEA (accreditation), South Kohala Patrol, the Area I VICE Section (Hilo), and Hamakua Patrol.
Police Chief Paul Ferreira said the three promotions were effective Monday.
