A global tendency for future sea levels to become more variable this century as oceans warm, due to increasing greenhouse gas emissions was identified by a team of researchers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST). Sea-level variability alters tidal cycles and enhances the risks of coastal flooding and erosion beyond changes associated with sea-level rise.
