Free COVID-19 testing today
Free COVID-19 drive-through testing will be held today in Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa.
Testing will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at both Kamakoa Nui Park in Waikoloa and at West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.
No insurance is necessary to be tested, but those seeking testing should bring their insurance card if they have one. There is no co-pay for individuals being tested for the novel coronavirus.

Workshop honors
Conflict Resolution Day
In honor of International Conflict Resolution Day, the public is invited to the free workshop “Ku I Ke Aloha: Stand Up &Speak Out” on Friday, Oct. 16, from 5:45 to 7 p.m. via Zoom.
The online event will begin with an introduction by the Rotary Club of Hilo on “100 Years of Building Peace” followed by workshop presenter T. Ilihia Gionson, board president of Hawaii Island United Way and principal at Hiehie Communications. During the session, examples of individual and community advocacy that resulted in positive change in Hawaii and beyond will be explored.

Remke makes
EOU Dean’s List
Kailua-Kona resident Helen Remke was named to the Eastern Oregon University 2020 spring term Dean’s List.
Remke was among 558 students named to the Dean’s List for the 2020 spring term. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded EOU coursework.
