Patrick Michael Elisaga, 57 of Papaaloa, died Feb. 15, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 28, 1963, in Honokaa, he was a steward at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

He is survived by daughter, Roseann Elisaga of Kailua-Kona; mother, Violet Morales of Papaaloa; brothers, Vicente Morales and Victor (Annie) Morales of Papaaloa; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Florencio Guerpo

Florencio Balboa Guerpo, 83, of Honokaa, died March 18, 2021, at Kohala Hospital. Born Feb. 23, 1938, in Cagayan, Philippines, he worked for the former Hamakua Sugar Plantation as a welder, retired from the Mauna Lani Hotel in Waikoloa, was a retired U.S. Army sergeant, and a member of the Honokaa Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by sons, John (Rowena) Guerpo and Ken Ramil Guerpo of Honokaa; sister, Consolacion (Nemesio) Sanchez of Honokaa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Sueko Kaneshiro

Sueko Sumida Kaneshiro, 95, of Hilo died March 25, 2021, at a private care home. Born in Pahala, she was a retired salesclerk for the former JC Penney.

She is survived by, sons, Lloyd (Linda Marquez) Kaneshiro, Kenn (Gladys) Kaneshiro and Wade (Nancy) Kaneshiro, all of Hilo; daughter, Suellen (Leonard) Tanaka of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas Engel

Thomas Jerome Engel, 81, of Kailua-Kona, died March 19, 2021, in Kealakekua. Born July 20, 1939, in Los Angeles, he was the owner of Engel Insulation &Firmfill Inc.

He is survived by spouse, Betty; sons, Tony (Charilyn) Warmuth of Kailua-Kona, Thomas (Dawn) Engel Jr. of Roseville, CA, and Steven (Pam) Engel of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Tamara (Stacy) Barton of Clarksburg, CA, and Cindy (Eric) Pearson of Kansas City, MO; brother, Robert Engel of Sacramento; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Alan Walker

Alan Tokuo “Bobo” Walker, 64, of Hilo, died March 7, 2021, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired DOE substitute teacher and archaeologist for PHR Inc.; a member of the Shogatsu Club, Special Olympics and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Anthony Eagle

Anthony Joseph Eagle, 44, of Hilo, died March 21, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Washington.

He is survived by mother, Debra Sale; stepfather, Vance Sale Sr.; son, Anthony Eagle Jr;, stepson, Kayden Masaoka; daughter, Ara Lee Eagle, stepdaughter, Kylee Masaoka; partner, Patricia Santos; brothers; Keala Kaehuaea, Alfred Barrozo, Matthew Sale, and Mark Sale; stepbrother, Vance Sale Jr., sister, Chasidi-Ann Chabli Sale; and grandmother, Abigail Sale.

Sidney Mercado

Sidney Leroy Mercado, 77, of Waimea and formerly of Honolulu, died March 18, 2021, at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired social worker for the State of Hawaii, member of Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church in Kalihi, Oahu, United Okinawan Association and a U.S. Army veteran.

Services will be held at a later date on Oahu.

He is survived by daughters, Kelsi Mercado and Lia Mercado, both of Waimea; son, Cody Mercado of Hilo; sister, Yolanda (Albert) Willing of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; brother, Robin (Beverly) Mercado of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vivian Kaili

Vivian Ann Uilani Kaili, 63, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 5, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 18, 1957, in Kealakekua, she was a housekeeper at the Kona Seaside Hotel, an assistant cook at Teru’s Restaurant and Bar, and a member of Work of Life Ministries.

She is survived by husband, Matt Kaili of Kailua-Kona; sons, Matthew Kaili Jr. and Richard Kaili, both of Kailua-Kona, Albert Kaili of Las Vegas, and David (Shantell) Kaili of Lahaina, Maui; brother, Albert Mitchell of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Doreen (Lawrence) Mills of Kailua-Kona; Juliette (Allen) Lucena of Kealakehe; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

June Jane Martin, 64, of Hilo, died March 13, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a member of ARC of Hilo.

Susan Mizuba

Susan M. Mizuba, 93, of Hilo, died March 29, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Koloa, Kauai, she was retired from the state Department of Education.

She is survived by husband, Kiyoto Mizuba; children, David Mizuba, Ann Johnson, and Ray (Iris) Mizuba; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Shawn Okamoto

Shawn Thomas Nobuyoshi Okamoto, 47, of Keaau, died March 23, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 21, 1973, in Hilo, he was a former department supervisor for Home Depot and a sales associate at HPM Building Supply.

Margaret “Margie” “Makaleka” Kalihilihiokeanuenue Amoguis, 83, of Kealakekua, died March 17, 2021, at her residence. Born July 5, 1936, in Kona, she worked in accounting for Hotel King Kamehameha.

She is survived by son, Anthony (Ramona) Amoguis; daughters, Bernadette (Billy Steven) Amoguis, Jasmine (George Gaspar) Amoguis, and Charlene (Jeff) Pryor; brother, Harold (Trudi) Awa; sisters, Gladys Nacis, Pinake Minamishin, and Ulu Llanes, all of Kona; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Suzanne Hammersley

Suzanne Renee Hammersley, 66, of Ocean View, died Feb. 25, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 22, 1954, in New Mexico, she was a casino manager in Lake Tahoe, a black-jack dealer and a caregiver.

Ronald Delos Santos Sr.

Ronald Delos Santos Sr., 76, of Hilo, died March 17, 2021, at home. Born in Pahala, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, Operating Engineers, Local 3, a truck driver for Akana Petroleum Inc. Co., and a bus driver for Akita Enterprises, Inc., and a member of the Kahoku A’o Malamalama Church.
