Donald Bearth


Donald Anthony Bearth, 62, of Kailua-Kona died July 14, 2021, at his residence. Born Dec. 1, 1958, in St. Paul, MN. he was head baker and owner of the former Suzanne’s Bakeshop.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 23 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona for Mass. There will be a gathering at the family home after Mass. A private burial will be held at a later date.

He is survived by mother, Suzanne; brother, Daniel (Darlene) Bearth of Kailua-Kona; sister Joy (Gerry) Brazier of Kailua-Kona; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joseph Mahoe

Joseph “Joe” Hanaike Mahoe, 77, of Kailua-Kona, died March 23, 2020, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 30, 1943, in Kalihi, Oahu, he was a construction worker for Goodfellow Brothers and Isemoto Contracting companies, lifeguard, marathon runner, black belt in martial arts, sensei of Kara-Ho Kempo, prize-winning pigeon racer, U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and member of Disabled American Veterans.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 23 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery for a service. The family request casual attire.

He is survived by daughters, Julie (Joseph Hekekia Jr.) Mahoe of Hilo and Joyal (Jaushlyn Mansinon) Mahoe of Oahu; sons, Jonas Mahoe and Jennings Mahoe, both of Kalaoa, and Jairus (Jill Anne Del Pilar Villa Rosa) Mahoe of San Diego; sisters, Kuulei Adams and Ululani Ikeda, both of Nanakuli, Oahu, and Bunnie Mahoe of Maile, Oahu; brothers, Willie (Marlene) Mahoe of Kapolei, Oahu and Allen (Charlita) Mahoe of Nanakuli, Oahu; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ronald Souza

Ronald Walter I. Souza, 82, of Mountain View and Haleiwa, Oahu, died June 2, 2021, in Honolulu. Born in Waialua, Oahu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator foreman and a member of the Hawaii Operating Engineers Union, Local 3.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. July 24 at Liliukolani Protestant Church in Haleiwa, Oahu, for a 10:30 a.m. service. Aloha attire.

He is survived by sons, Russel (Karen) Souza and Ryan (Kimberly) Souza; daughters, Marlene (James) Abrigo, Maylene (Richard) Kamakea, and Melanie (George) Hatchie; brother, Fred (Nani) Souza; sister, Patricia Reynolds; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Bernadette Amar

Bernadette Beverly “BeBe” Amar, 72, of Pepeekeo, died June 27, 2021, at his residence. Born in Hilo, she was a retired sales associate with Sears Roebuck &Co. in Hilo, a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Pepeekeo Community Association.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. July 24 for a graveside committal service at Alae Cemetery in Hilo. Aloha attire.

She is survived by husband, Manuel Amar Sr. of Pepeekeo; sons, Manuel Amar Jr. and Thimothy (Jenifer) Amar of Pepeekeo; daughter, Rachel (Chazten Fukuhara) Amar of Pepeekeo; sisters, Luana (Walter) Leite and Stephanie Anderson of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and umerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Russel Botelho Sr.

Russel Amos Botelho Sr., 69, of Mountain View and formerly of Paauhau, died June 29, 2021, at his residence. Born in Honokaa, he was a retired diesel mechanic with the former Paauhau &Hamakua Sugar companies, a business agent for the ILWU Local 142 and a private investigator with Victor V. Vierra and Associates and a baseball coach for Honokaa High School.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Cremation to follow. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Serena Botelho of Mountain View; daughters, Shelley Felicia Botelho and Russelle Botelho of Mountain View; son, Russel (Keala) Botelho Jr. of Waipahu, Oahu; sisters, Margo Godbehere of Kauai and Jo Ann (Milton) Lau Kong of Kukuihaele; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ameil Akimseu

Ameil Kealoha Akimseu, 82, of Hilo, died April 4, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kalaoa, he was a retired truck driver with Kuwaye Trucking Co. and U.S. Air Force veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Kathleen Walker Akimseu of Hilo; daughter, Roxanne (Roy) Madamba of California; sons, Jason Akimseu of Maui and Jared (Jessica Singer) Akimseu of Hilo; brothers, Raymond (Paulette) Akimseu of Oahu and Earl (Abilene) Akimseu of Hilo; sisters, Luwana (Satoshi) Sumiki and Cynthia (Peter Lee) Moses of Hilo, Gail (Michael) Figueroa of Pepeekeo; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alika Kaho‘ohanohano Dizol, 43, of Las Vegas and formerly of Waimea, died June 6, 2021, at his residence. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a yard marshal for Amazon.

He is survived by wife, Laurie Dizol of Las Vegas; daughters, Sayzen Dizol of Las Vegas and Yovella Fabro-Dizol of Kapolei, Oahu; stepdaughter Sierra (Wayne) Lawrence of Laupahoehoe; sons, Zephan Apostadiro-Dizol of Las Vegas and Uzziah Crisostomo-Dizol of Okinawa, Japan; stepsons, Stacy (Matt) Prellberg of Oahu and Pohaku (Talitha) Aipia of Las Vegas; mother, Paula Lindsey Dizol of Las Vegas; father, Alex (Jerri) Dizol of Waimea; sister, Shannon (Keone) Dizol of Las Vegas; brothers, Hauoli (Jean) Dizol of Honolulu, Micah (Kylee) Dizol and Noah Dizol of Waimea; stepbrother, Isaiah Schubert of Waimea; maternal step-grandmother, Roberta (Gilford) Medeiros of Summerlin, Nevada; six grandchildren; a niece; and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Jeffery Belanio Jr.

Jeffery Wong Belanio Jr., 44, of Captain Cook, died July 11, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 21, 1977, in Kealakekua, he was a heavy equipment operator for West Hawaii Excavation and Big Island Landscaping, an auto mechanic and a welder.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 24 at OTEC beach in Kailua-Kona for a celebration of life. The family requests casual attire.


He is survived by parents, Jeffery and Judy Belanio Sr. of Captain Cook; sisters, Roslyn (James) Thomas of Ocean View and Connie Belanio of San Antonio, Texas; several aunts and uncles; two nephews; and two grand-nephews.
