The fire, which broke out shortly before 5 p.m., was located on the Waimea side of the highway, between mile markers 49 and 50, and was estimated at about 150-by-150 square yards as of 5:30 p.m., according to the U.S. Army Garrison Pohakuloa. Hawaii County and U.S. Army assets are working to contain the fire in the Keamuku Maneuver Area. (U.S. Army/Special to West Hawaii Today)
