Flash flood watch posted due to remnants of former-Hurricane Linda

A flash flood watch will go into effect Sunday morning for the Hawaiian Islands due to the threat of heavy rainfall as the remnants of former-Hurricane Linda pass north of the state.

Heavy rain capable of producing flash flooding will develop over the Big Island and Maui County Sunday and spread westward over the remainder of the state Sunday night through Monday night, according to the Honolulu-based forecasters with the National Weather Service.

“Several inches of rain will be possible over these areas during the day Sunday. In addition, inland convection over the Big Island slopes will also carry the potential to produce heavy convective rainfall,” the state forecast discussion read Saturday afternoon.
