The Department of Health reported 52 new cases on Hawaii Island Thursday, bringing the island’s cumulative total to 8,542.
Hawaii health officials reported 429 new cases of COVID-19 and seven coronavirus-related deaths across the state. Of the new cases reported 273 were on Oahu, 63 in Maui County and 33 on Kauai. Eight cases were from residents diagnosed out of state. With the new cases, the state’s tally reached 69,573.
According to the DOH, 10,582 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 1,576 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 617.6 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 93.3 cases per day.
Hawaii County Thursday had a seven-day test positivity rate of 7.6%, over the state’s rate of 7.1%.
On Thursday, 55 people with COVID-19 remained hospitalized on the Big Island. Thirty-two patients occupied ICU beds with eight overflowing the island’s 24 ICU beds. Nine of the beds were occupied by COVID-positive patients. Six of those nine COVID patients are on ventilators.
Of the 633 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 485 were on Oahu, 77 were in Maui County, 63 were on the Big Island and four on Kauai. Four deaths were among residents outside the state.
