Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day in America was recognized Sunday in Kailua-Kona.

The Big Island VFW Auxiliaries marked the day by dedicating the new Gold Star Families memorial monument at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Multiple Gold Star Families were on hand for the dedication, honoring the sacrifice from families of fallen men and women in uniform.
