Firefighters quickly douse brush fire near Hualalai Elderly Housing

Hawaii County firefighters from three stations responded to a brush fire that broke out Friday afternoon behind Hualalai Elderly Housing in Kailua-Kona.

Thick black smoke was seen behind the housing complex, deep in the brush. Hualalai Road was closed at Kuakini Highway as crews quickly contained the blaze.

There were no reported injuries, according to fire officals.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
