Actor Ezra Miller, who played The Flash in “Justice League,” allegedly has not returned a Hilo man’s wallet after reportedly stealing it earlier this week.
Hilo couple Stoyan Kojouharov and Niegel Hayles were granted a temporary restraining order against the Hollywood actor Thursday after they claimed Miller on Monday had burst into their bedroom, threatened to “bury” the two of them, and stole several personal items, including Kojouharov’s wallet and Hayles’ passport.
Kojouharov told the Tribune-Herald on Thursday that those items remain missing, and was not optimistic about getting them back.
“Only time will tell,” Kojouharov said. “I had to cancel all the cards. I had no choice.”
The restraining order granted Thursday prohibits Miller from approaching or contacting the couple, or possessing any firearms, electric guns or ammunition, for 15 days.
Failure to comply with the order will incur a misdemeanor charge carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 48 hours in jail, and up to a year in prison or a $2,000 fine.
The missing items could be discussed at a hearing regarding the restraining order scheduled for April 13, which Miller or a representative are ordered to attend.
A hearing also has been scheduled for a separate case involving Miller.
On Monday, Miller — who uses they/them pronouns — was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment following an incident Sunday at Keaukaha bar Margarita Village.
According to police reports, Miller became upset by a woman’s choice of song for karaoke, began shouting obscenities, knocked the microphone out of the woman’s hand, and “lunged” at a man aggressively.
The criminal complaint alleges Miller taunted bar patron Martin Evans “in a manner likely to provoke an immediate violent response, and/or that would cause Martin Evans to reasonably believe that Ezra Miller intended to cause bodily injury.”
Both charges are petty misdemeanors, carrying maximum possible sentences of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Miller posted the $500 bail, and is ordered to appear in court April 26 for an arraignment and plea hearing.
