Firefighters douse brush fire in Kailua-Kona

Firefighters from the Kailua Fire Station, located just across the four-lane Palani Road from the fire, rushed to blaze that broke out about 5:30 p.m. Friday with some personnel running across the street putting on gear as the engine began pumping water to douse the flames. Firefighters quickly doused a brush fire that broke out Friday evening near the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Palani Road.

The fire, which ignited around 5:30 p.m. in brush on the north side of Palani Road and mauka of Queen Kaahumanu Highway.

Firefighters from the Kailua Fire Station, located just across the four-lane Palani Road from the fire, rushed to the fire with some personnel running across the street putting on gear as the engine began pumping water to douse the flames.
