The Kealakekua-based hospital said Tuesday the first baby born in 2023 was a beautiful baby girl born at 7:22 a.m. to Deyri Arita Rodriguez.
No name was provided for the bundle of joy as of press-time Tuesday, however, the little girl weighed in at 6 pounds, 1 ounce and measured 19.5 inches at birth.

The island’s second baby of 2023 was born at 2:48 a.m. Sunday at Hilo Medical Center. Baby boy Keoni Gilbert Marpuri Norita was born to Kristine and Gus Norita of Keaau.
According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Oahu’s first baby came shortly after 3 a.m. Hawaii News Now reported Kauai’s first baby arrived at 2:45 a.m. and Maui’s at 2:25 p.m. making Kaiwa likely the first baby to be born in the Aloha State this year.
