Free Brown Bag Talk explores how ‘an attorney’s view on conflict resolution’
The nonprofit Kuikahi Mediation Center hosts a free talk on Feb. 16 as part of their “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series. Talks are Third Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
This month’s speaker is Lincoln Ashida on the topic “An Attorney’s View on Conflict Resolution: What Lawyers Think and Care About in Mediation.”
“How can we approach settlement that is in the best interest of our clients?” says Ashida. “Let’s explore how to utilize the mediation process — including practicing active listening and seeing from another’s perspective — to achieve a positive outcome for clients.”
In this talk, learn how lawyers can prepare themselves and their clients for mediation, including ethical issues, settlement options, and managing expectations.
Ashida, Esq. is a director at Torkildson Katz, A Law Corporation, practicing in the areas of business, corporate, and labor/employment law. He is County of Hawaii’s longest serving Corporation Counsel and was a county deputy prosecuting attorney. A graduate of Hilo High, University of Michigan, and Creighton University School of Law, Ashida is an instructor in political science and administration of justice at University of Hawaii Hilo.
Kuikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and connect with others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
