Wong baseball tourney on tap

Kaha Wong’s Big Island Wood Bat Academy will host a youth baseball tournament Friday through Sunday, May 26-28, at Wong Stadium and Walter Victor Baseball Complex.

The tournament will host teams in the 14U, 16U and 18U age groups from several islands.


Scouts and recruiters from numerous MLB organizations and NCAA member universities will also be in attendance.

The tournament will begin with a showcase on Friday night, during which players will participate in drills and exercises in front of recruiters.

Games will begin Saturday morning and continue through Sunday.

Wong, father of Seattle Mariners second basemen Kolten Wong and Kean Wong, has had eleven of his players get recruited by MLB teams since 2011.
